SIU President Glenn Poshard testified at the House Higher Education Appropriation committee Thursday about the system's needs in the FY'13 budget.Poshard says with the state finances the way they are and with talks of pension and Medicaid reforms which could cost the university millions, he's hoping for a flat budget. The Illinois House has adopted a cap on how much the state could spend next year, but officials warn actual spending could be much lower.
House Republican Leader Tom Cross says that after some of the money is used for pensions, old bills and other expenses, actual spending on new services could drop dramatically.
