SIU Hosts the Inaugural Energy Day

Flier

Organized by the Advanced Coal and Energy Research Center at SIU, this day-long energy conference featured speakers and panel discussions about carbon dioxide and research.
John Caupert, director of the advancing biofuels research center at SIUE, participated in a panel about reducing carbon dioxide through biofuels.

Caupert explains how important it is for events like this to take place.

"The more of these types of events that we can be doing and involved in the better. The more people, it's nice to see a sold out auditorium here today, the more people that we can have in attendance, is wonderful. And at the end of this day, if we can make a connection with one person, then it's been a success. "

Amy McMorrow-Hunter, the market and outreach coordinator for the Carbondale Energy Resource Center, says she has high expectations for this event in the future.

"We want it to get bigger and better every year. This was our first shot at this, and we are really happy with the results today and all the people that have come and participated. And we just hope that in the future more people will be aware of it and will be able to attend."
