SIU Chancellor Paul Sarvela Passes

SIU Carbondale Interim Chancellor Paul Sarvela has died.

In a letter to the campus community SIU President Randy Dunn announced that Sarvela died unexpectedly Sunday evening. 

Sarvela has served SIU for the past 28-years.  Sarvela recently announced that he would be undergoing cancer treatment.   Funeral arrangements are pending.
