New students at both SIU Carbondale and SIU Edwardsville will pay more next year.Trustees approved a two-percent hike for SIUC students, while SIUE will see a four-percent bump. On the Carbondale campus, 14 individual fees have now been consolidated into one "General Student Fee." Administrators say it provides more consistency, and acknowledge it may cost some students more because some fees that previously had a cap at 12 credit hours will now be uncapped.

Meanwhile, the Board approved Karen Midden as Interim Dean of SIUC's College of Agricultural Sciences.

Trustees also reshuffled leadership, electing Amy Sholar the Board Chair, Phil Gilbert Vice-Chair, and Joel Sambursky Secretary.
