The leaders of Southern Illinois University are recommending a 6% tuition increase for Fall 2015.
The rate hike would be the same for both the Carbondale and Edwardsville campuses.
Details of the increase were included in the meeting materials released late Friday for the Board of Trustees' April 16th meeting.
On the Carbondale campus, the university is also asking for several student fee increases.
The most significant would come in the Student Insurance Fee. It could increase by nearly 34% as the university must switch to a health plan that is fully compliant with the Affordable Care Act. The increase would raise the fee to $585 for Fall and Spring.
SIUC is also proposing student fee increases for the flight training program, the facilities maintenance fee, as well as the university housing fee.
