Carbondale, Ill. -- The 6th Annual SIRIS Classic Vinyl & Media Sale is right around the corner. The annual event will be held Saturday, September 7 from 10am-9pm and Sunday, September 8 from noon to 5:30pm at the University Mall, 1237 East Main in Carbondale, across from the Food Court.
The Southern Illinois Radio Information Service (SIRIS) and WSIU Public Radio, the public radio stations of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, are co-hosting the sale with the University Mall for the sixth straight year. This year's sponsors include the SIU Credit Union in Carbondale, Energy, Marion, Harrisburg, and Metropolis, and Wright Do-It Center in Murphysboro.
Expect to find vinyl records (including collectibles), CDs, DVDs, cassettes, VHS, stereo equipment, electronic games, and many other items for sale. Shoppers who are looking for one-of-a-kind collectibles should arrive early on the first day of the sale, as people line up well before the 10am start time. Musical genres include rock & roll, blues, jazz and big band, country, R&B, pop, and more. Turntables, cassette players, stereo systems, boom boxes, and even a few television sets and radios also will be available.
Proceeds will benefit the Southern Illinois Radio Information Service (SIRIS), a service of WSIU Public Radio and SIU Carbondale for individuals who are blind or whose physical condition makes reading difficult or impossible.
