Severe Storms Down Trees and Power Lines

Severe storms across the region Monday afternoon downed trees and power lines.

In Williamson County, hundreds of Ameren customers lost power.   Most of those were in Carterville where a utility pole and transformer went down near the Intermediate School.

Ameren also reported nearly 300 customers without power in Franklin County – primarily in the Sesser area, as well as nearly 200 in Jackson County and 63 customers without power in Perry County.

A storm chaser is reporting a barn collapsed in Clinton County near New Baden. Reports say the roof is blown off and sheet metal is stuck into trees...damage possibly caused from a tornado.
