Two people are dead, after separate crashes in Jefferson County Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.
In the first incident, Illinois State Police say a man was killed in a car crash late Wednesday night.
Investigators say the 22-year old from Huey, whose name was not released, was riding in a car heading north on Route 37 near Eisenhower Road. They say the driver lost control of the car, which ran off the road and flipped several times. The passenger was thrown from the vehicle, and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 28-year old woman from Centralia, and a 24-year old male passenger from Centralia were both taken to St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment. Neither of their names was released by police.
In the second crash, a Centralia died after he was hit by a semi along Interstate 64 Thursday morning.
Illinois State Police are not yet releasing the name of the victim, a 34-year old man from Centralia, or the truck driver - a 52-year old man from Tell City, Indiana.
Investigators say the victim was walking towards Mt. Vernon after his car stalled on I-64 eastbound near milepost 71. The semi driver was also headed east, and police say the truck hit the pedestrian - who was walking in the roadway.
