Sen. Alan Dixon Visit to SIU on Oct 4 Canceled

Carbondale, Ill. -- WSIU Public Broadcasting, the public media arm of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute announced that the appearance of former U.S. Sen. Alan Dixon (D-Illinois) has been CANCELED due to illness. Dixon was scheduled to speak on the SIU campus this Thursday, October 4.

Dixon's appearance was to mark the conclusion of WSIU-TV's 50th anniversary year and the 15th anniversary of the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute.

Former Illinois Governor James R. Thompson is scheduled to share insight on 50 years of Illinois politics on Thursday, October 25 at 7pm at the SIU Student Center, Ballroom D as part of the anniversary celebration. The event is free and open to the public. WSIU-TV will record the lecture for broadcast at a later date.

The event is sponsored locally in part by Marion Toyota and Allstate agent Laura Hughes of Carbondale.
