SEMO Regents to Consider Another Reorganization Proposal

Logo

Facing significant budget challenges, the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents will consider another major academic reorganization proposal.
The plan includes establishing five newly organized colleges in Education, Health and Human Studies...Humanities and Social Sciences...Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics ...Business and Computing as well as Arts and Media.

The proposed new structure involves eliminating four department chairs, four administrative assistants, one dean, one senior administrative assistant and the vice provost and dean of graduate studies positions. The SEMO budget office estimates savings of around 644-thousand dollars.

The SEMO Regents will consider these changes Friday.

Last December, the Regents approved mergers to create the Departments of History and Anthropology...Communication Studies and Modern Languages as well as Criminal Justice, Social Work and Sociology.
