Southeast Missouri State University's Board of Regents approved a contract extension for President Carlos Vargas.
The new three-year rolling contract runs through June 30th, 2021. The package does not include a salary increase or additional compensation.
The board listed several accomplishments under Vargas as reasons why it decided to extend his contract. They included retention and graduation rates reported in Fall 2017 were both at the highest rate since SEMO began tracking the data; the university securing three new program-specific accreditations and the development of new graduate and undergraduate programs.
Vargas took over as the president of Southeast Missouri State University in July 2015.
