Schools officials in Salem are working with local police to investigate the possibility of a threat of school violence.
High school superintendent Brad Detering sent out a Facebook post Wednesday saying there is no information to substantiate the threat and there is no credible threat at this time.
But, he says the school takes threats seriously - and in light of the recent school shooting in Parkland, Florida - he thought it was important to make parents aware of the potential threat.
Also Wednesday, Carbondale High School superintendent Steve Murphy tweeted that a rumor about a threat to his school was not credible.
These reports come on the heels of the arrest of a Centralia High School student Tuesday. WJBD Radio reports the student is accused of threatening to shoot a school official at his home or take rifles to school and shoot him there.
