Two SIU baseball players and one Saluki signee have been drafted in the 2018 Major League Baseball draft.
Pitcher Michael Baird went in the 23rd round to St. Louis. Infielder Connor Kopach went to Seattle in the 25th round. SIU pitching signee Sam Grace was taken in the 40th round by Baltimore.
The Salukis had four players taken in the 2017 MLB Draft. SIU's six players taken over the last two years are the most over a two-year span since 1990-91.
Since 1966, 106 SIU players have been taken in the MLB Draft and 24 have gone on to make the Major Leagues.
