A Carbondale house has been destroyed by fire.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Department says deputies, the county ambulance service and MPS Fire responded to the fire on Garden Lane in rural Carbondale just before Midnight on Thursday.
When they arrived, authorities say the house was fully engulfed and is considered a total loss.
Two people inside the house were able to escape. They were taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening burns to their hands and arms. They were later taken to a St. Louis hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
