The Rend Lake Resort closed last December but the Illinois Department of Natural Resources says it will soon re-open.
On Wednesday, IDNR Chief-of-Staff Brent Krebs says bidding for the project to restore the resort will now begin.
"We are prepared effective this morning to go to bid what we call an RFP, Request For Proposal, to solicit bids to re-open Rend Lake Resort."
While they are preparing to accept bids, they have set up ONE DAY for vendors to bid.
"We will have a mandatory vendor conference. What that means is, if you want to bid on this facility, this jewel, what we believe is a jewel of Southern Illinois, if you want to bid on that, you have to be here on June 28th at 9am."
Krebs says bidding decisions could be finished and restoration underway as early as September.
