Red Cross Launches RapidPass

Logo

The American Red Cross says it's making it easier for people to donate blood, by giving you the chance to do some of the prep work ahead of time.
The Red Cross has created a system called "RapidPass" - where spokesman Ben Corey says you can fill out questions on your health history the day of your appointment, from the comfort of your home. He says it can save you plenty of time when you actually go to donate.

Corey says RapidPass comes at a good time because blood donations are especially needed during the summer months.

"The Red Cross is urging all eligible donors to schedule an appointment now to give blood or platelets and help prevent a summer shortage. Blood donations do tend to decline during the summer months as people become busy with travel and vacations. Also, schools are out of session and the Red Cross hosts a lot of blood drives at schools."

You can find "RapidPass" online at www.redcrossblood.org/rapidpass.
