A democratic candidate for governor is dropping out of the race.
In an email sent to supporters, Amaya Pawar says he does not have the money to conduct a meaningful statewide campaign.
Pawar says his only options were to take on more debt or to cut staff, neither of which he is prepared to do.
So, the Chicago alderman says he is now launching a political action committee called One Illinois to organize young people around the issues of race, class and geography.
Pawar's running mate was Cairo Mayor Tyrone Coleman.
Six democrats remain the gubernatorial race. They are J.B. Pritzker, Chris Kennedy, Bob Daiber, Daniel Biss, Tio Hardiman and Alex Paterakis.
