Parole Board Members Removed

Illinois Capitol

Two members of the Illinois Prisoner Review Board have been removed in the wake of published reports of erroneous filings with the state and the federal government.
Former Republican Harrisburg Mayor Eric E. Gregg was removed Friday by Gov. Bruce Rauner, and former board chairman Adam P. Monreal, a Chicago Democrat, resigned effective in two weeks. No reason was given for their removal.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports Gregg made statements in pending bankruptcy documents that he earned $48,000 more than his state parole board salary. State law prohibits board members from having income from outside employment.

The newspaper also reports Monreal, a former Cook County prosecutor, reported in his bankruptcy case in 2011 that he made less than half his board salary of $91,400. He also listed outside income.

Monreal and Gregg could not be reached for comment.
