Opioid Program Planned For Thursday At The Rend Lake Visitor Center.

This Thursday at the Rend Lake Visitor's Center several groups are offering a free workshop on the opioid crisis.  The public event starts at 6:00PM and will include a documentary featuring addicts talking about their problem, plus a discussion with a panel of local experts.  The evening will also include Narcan training provided by the Egyptian Health Department.

Amber Anderson with the Egyptian Area Agency of Aging says the problem is widespread and  not limited to any one social or economic group.  The partners in this community event are the Franklin/Williamson Healthy Communities Coalition, the Egyptian Health Department and the SIU School of Medicine's Center for Rural  Health and Social Service Development.
