New Community Group Erases Carbondale Graffiti.

A newly-formed community action group known as Black Love Adjoining Communities Collectively (BLACC) , began their mission to decrease racial tension in Carbondale recently by erasing some racist graffiti which was spray-painted recently on a building near the Historic Town Square District in Carbondale. Carbondale native and group member  Jonathon Moore says the mission of the new group is to "...make the community aware that their mission is to create a better, more peaceful community environment that's fair for everyone."  Alluding to recent protests and violence in the city of Carbondale, Moore said that BLACC wants to make it clear that their peaceful group had no involvement in these recent events.

Under a blazing sun with the heat index in the upper 90s, the group, along with Carbondale Mayor Mike Henry, Carbondale Police, and other City officials in attendance, donned rubber gloves and worked to remove the graffiti.

Moore said that this act is just the beginning of the new group's mission, which includes meeting with and having constructive dialogue with City Officials in the future.  Moore also said the group will be working with young people to get them involved in making the community a better place for everyone.
