Murphysboro Police Identify One Suspect in Burglary Spree

One of the two suspects wanted for a recent string of home and auto burglaries in Murphysboro has been identified.

Police say 18-year-old Daron Curtis Smith of Murphysboro is in custody on a charge of attempted residential burglary.
Officers have not identified the other suspect.

These suspects were arrested in connection to a series of home and auto burglaries on May 10 and 11.

Murphysboro Chief of Police Chad Roberts says he believes Smith and the unidentified suspect are part of a group of people who have burglarized more than a dozen homes and autos in the town since mid-April.

Chief Roberts says the investigation continues and more arrests are possible.
