Mt. Vernon Teacher Arrested on Child Solicitation Charges

A Mt Vernon man is in jail for Indecent Solicitation of a Child.
Jefferson county authorities say Troy Police arrested 25-year old Kevin Battas Wednesday following a month long investigation. 

Battas is a math teacher at Mt Vernon High School.  Police say he met the child using Whisper - an anonymous social media app. 

Police say Battas used the app to discuss performing a sexual act with the minor.

Battas resides in the Madison county Jail on a $150,000 bond.
