Franklin County health officials say a collection of mosquitos has tested positive for West Nile Virus.
The Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department says the state notified them that routine testing identified infected mosquitos in West Frankfort and Zeigler.
West Nile virus is transmitted the bite of a mosquito that has picked up the virus from an infected bird. The Health Department says most people with the virus have no clinical symptoms of the illness but some may become ill within a couple of weeks after the bite of an infected mosquito.
