Jonathan Moore

A Carbondale man is facing charges of being a felon in possession of a handgun after a shooting incident at a local bar.

Officers say 32-year-old Jonathan Moore is charged with Unlawful Use of Weapon by a Felon for being in possession of a handgun. He has not yet been charged with the shooting at the Hollywood Lounge on West Jackson Street.
Officers say early Sunday morning, they were on foot patrol in the area of the bar, when they heard and responded to a gunshot fired from inside the lounge.

About 15 minutes later, a victim arrived at St. Joseph memorial Hospital in Murphysboro with a non-life threatening gunshot wound, which is believed to be the gunshot victim from the bar.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Carbondale Police Department or Crime Stoppers at (618) 549-COPS.

Carbondale Mayor Mike Henry has acted to suspend the liquor license of the Hollywood Lounge.

Mayor Henry  said that he, and the City Council are wanting to ensure that the City is safe for all residents.  He added that City Officials are not going to put up with the type of violent act that occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday July 9th.

Carbondale's Liquor Control Commission will hold a hearing July 18th on the status of the Lounge's liquor license.
