WSIU, SIU Summer Children's Film Series Continues

Next Screening is Saturday, July 27 at Benton Public Library

Carbondale, Ill. -- Reporters, photographers, and camera crews are invited to cover free screenings of award-winning Prix Jeunesse International children's films at regional libraries this summer. The films are being shown as part of the summer library reading program, “Have Book, Will Travel”. The SIU College of Mass Communication and Media Arts, WSIU Public Broadcasting, the SIU Global Media Research Center, and the SIU Center for International Education are presenting the films in conjunction with regional libraries.

The next film screening will be held this Saturday, July 27 from 10am-noon at the Benton Public Library in Benton, Illinois.

Films to be featured are aimed at children ages 6 and younger and 7-11+, and will include Neighbors from NHK, Japan; Waffle Heart from NRK, Norway; Chick Chick from Kenya Television Network, Nairobi, Kenya; and Hero from Mongolian National Public Television, Mongolia.

Special book titles representing countries featured in the films will be available to families.
