WSIU, Local Partners to Present Illinois 12th U.S. House District Debate, Candidates Set to Debate in Marion, Illinois Tomorrow -- Wednesday, October 8

Carbondale, Ill. -- Reporters, photographers, and camera crews are invited to cover a live public debate between three candidates for the 12th Congressional District of Illinois on Wednesday, October 8 at 7pm at the Marion Cultural & Civic Center, 800 Tower Square Plaza in Marion, Illinois. Debate participants are William Enyart (D-Belleville), Mike Bost (R-Murphysboro), and Paula Bradshaw (G-Carbondale).

Media representatives should begin arriving at 6pm and present credentials from their organizations at a check-in table in the lobby. Reserved seating is available for the media with space for camera tripods and a mult.box with mic-level outputs. All media must be seated by 6:50pm. No flash photography is permitted during the debate. All three candidates will be available for separate post-debate news conferences.

Jak Tichenor of WSIU-TV will moderate the debate, with Jennifer Fuller of WSIU Public Radio, Molly Parker of the Southern Illinoisan, and Beth Hundsdorfer of the Belleville News-Democrat serving as panelists.

Presented by WSIU Public Broadcasting, the Southern Illinoisan, and the Belleville News-Democrat, in cooperation with the League of Women Voters of Jackson County, and sponsored regionally by Forbes Financial Group, the debate will air LIVE on WSIU Radio stations WSIU 91.9 FM & 91.9 HD1, WUSI 90.3 FM, and WVSI 88.9 FM.

WSIU-TV will record the debate for broadcast on Thursday, October 9 at 9:30pm, with a repeat on Sunday, October 12 at 3:30pm on WSIU's main channels WSIU-TV 8.1 and WUSI-TV 16.1. Additional repeats are scheduled for WSIU's WORLD channels, WSIU 8.2 and WUSI 16.2, on Thursday, October 9 at 11:30pm; Friday, October 10 at 10:30pm; Saturday, October 11 at 9:30pm; and Sunday, October 12 at 8:30pm.

WSIU and their local partners will host a second live public debate between candidates for the 12th Congressional District of Illinois on Wednesday, October 29 at 7pm at Lindenwood University in Belleville, Illinois. The debate will be recorded by WSIU-TV and will air on Thursday, October 30 at 7pm, with repeats on the WSIU WORLD channels at 10pm on Thursday, October 30 and Friday, October 31. WSIU Radio will air the debate on Monday, November 3 at 8pm.
