Marion Lawyer Pleads Guilty to Income Tax Charges

A Williamson County attorney has pleaded guilty to failing to file a federal tax return.

The US Attorney’s Office says 61-year old William Wells of Marion entered a guilty plea on Monday in US District Court to two counts of tax fraud.  Wells admitted that he did not file federal tax returns in 2005 and 2006 amounting to about 400-thousand dollars in unpaid income tax. Wells faces a maximum possible sentence of two years in prison.  His sentencing is scheduled for June 8th.

Wells operated the Financial Services Law Practice in Marion.  The State Supreme Court prohibited Wells from practicing law in the state since September of 2009 after he misrepresented several clients in bankruptcy cases.
