SIU President Glenn Poshard says the university will see level funding as a result of the state budget lawmakers approved Friday.
Poshard says Governor Pat Quinn's request would have cut SIU's budget by 5-percent for the coming budget year. Poshard say SIU was able to get $10-million restored, which brings SIU up to this year's state funding level. Poshard says lawmakers also restored $1.2-million each for the Pharmacy School and for the Cancer Center. Legislators also re-appropriated some $78-million for deferred maintenance, renovation and repair projects.
SIU's state budget appropriation is subject to Governor Pat Quinn's approval.
