Governor Bruce Rauner complained again Thursday that he still hasn't gotten his hands on Senate Bill 1, the Democrat-sponsored legislation that would change the state's school funding formula. What makes it worse — the General Assembly has returned to town at his behest. Without his promised amendatory veto to act on, they're twiddling their thumbs.
Rauner blames House Speaker Michael Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton.
“We’re all here—the General Assembly is here. Speaker Madigan and President Cullerton chose to do nothing while we’re all here.”
The Democratic leaders continue to call on the governor to meet in person and negotiate changes. Cullerton has said he will send the bill to Rauner on Monday.
