It may not draw thousands of visitors to the region like last August's Total Solar Eclipse, but this Wednesday we can see a Lunar Eclipse as the earth goes in between the Sun and the Full Moon. Also, since the moon will be at the point in its orbit where it is closest to the earth, the moon will look unusually large. Bob Baer of the SIU Physics Department says the moon will start to disappear at 5:48AM the morning of Wednesday January 31st, 2018 and totality will hit at 6:51AM. At that time, Baer says, the moon will be completely covered and it will turn an orange or red color.
