A man already serving a 20-year sentence in an Illinois prison for drug trafficking has pleaded not guilty to charges linked to a teenager's 2010 shooting death in Mount Vernon.

WSIL reports 27-year-old Marventi Palmer entered a not guilty plea Tuesday to a first-degree murder count in Jefferson County. He also waived his right to a speedy trial.

Authorities allege Palmer had a role in the August 2010 death of 15-year-old Deon Feggins.

Feggins died at a hospital after being found shot multiple times on a street.

Palmer was charged in January. He's serving a 20-year sentence in the Shawnee Correctional Center at Vienna related to a Jefferson County drug-trafficking conviction.
