One group in Illinois is pushing lawmakers to pass legislation to protect DACA recipients before a quickly approaching deadline.
President Trump's deadline for Congress to pass a DREAM Act is March fifth. If that deadline passes, DACA recipients will start to be deported from the U.S.
Eric Gosh with Indivisible Illinois says immigrants make up for a large portion of business.
"The numbers about 20 percent of small businesses were started by immigrants. When we look at Fortune 500 companies, approximately 40 percent were started by immigrants or their children."
He says many people are in favor or legislation that would protect the DACA recipients.
"8 out of 10 Americans want this. 7 out of 10 republicans want this. This is what they want. The only place this is political is in Washington D.C."
Indivisible Illinois is holding a vigil outside the offices of Representatives Bost, Davis, Shimkus and Roskam Wednesday night.
