Illinois Set To Begin The New Year Without A Budget

Image

Illinois residents are once again facing the prospect of having their elected leaders not agree on a state budget.

After a full year without a budget - it looks like the state is heading in that direction again.

Governor Bruce Rauner is demanding term limits and a property tax freeze BEFORE a budget.

"Illinois is not competitive. This is the reason we’re push so hard for reforms as part of budget negotiations because we will never keep balanced budgets no matter how high we raise our tax rates if we keep pushin' our employers, our job creators, out of the state."

Democratic leaders have said there should be a full budget - without ties to Rauner’s agenda.

Elected leaders are scheduled to negotiate over the weekend.
