Illinois Delegate's Credentials Revoked After Racial Slur, Threats

The Illinois Republican Party has revoked the GOP convention credentials of Trump delegate for making racist comments and threats of violence of a Facebook posting.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports state party chairman Tim Schneider revoked the credentials of Fifth Congressional District delegate Lori Gayne.

Over a photo of law enforcement officials on the roof of Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Gayne wrote they were waiting for a (racial slur) to "try something.'' She used an abbreviation for the slur.

Party officials say Gayne admitted she was the author of the post, made under another name.

Schneider said Wednesday the party, "has zero tolerance for racism of any kind.''

In a statement, Gayne apologized, saying she "hadn't intended to make racist or threatening statements,'' and realized afterward they could be viewed that way.
