Job seekers of all ages  mingled with employers and workforce agencies Wednesday at a job and resource fair in Cairo, sponsored by the Alexander County Housing Authority.

Lisa Childs, Principal of Cairo Junior and Senior High Schools brought several Seniors to the event and they were very eager to get started with life after high school.

Cairo resident Tyrell  Harris was very optimistic about finding a job.  He also mentioned that there were some social service agencies  at the fair offering transportation solutions to those who do not have reliable transportation.

The Job fair was aimed at helping those who have recently been displaced from a federal housing project in Cairo. There were 40 agencies set up at the Mighty Rivers Worship Center, not far from the Ohio River.  Employers included Southern Illinois Healthcare, Tyson Chicken, Unilever, Pepsi, Aisin and others.

In addition, many state and local agencies were on hand including The Department of Aging, The Shawnee Development Alliance, The Southern Seven Health Department and employment agencies from Missouri, Kentucky as well as Illinois.
