Housing Rehab Funds Available for February Tornado Victims

Housing rehabilitation funds are now available for tornado victims in southern Illinois.

Illinois Housing Development Authority spokesperson Rebecca Boykin says storm victims can apply for the federal funds to repair everything from the roof to electrical and plumbing.

Boykin says the process takes about 4 weeks from the time of the application until the funds are in hand.

She says tornado victims can apply for the assistance through two local agencies.

Crosswalk Community Action Agency has funding available for up to $40,000 per household in the counties of Williamson, Saline, Gallatin, Union and Randolph. For more information call (618) 937-3581.

Wabash Area Development, Incorporated also has funding available for up to $40,000 per household in Gallatin, Wayne, and White counties along with the tornado-stricken cities of Harrisburg and Ridgway. For more information call (618) 963-2387.
