A house committee today is schedule to consider an amendment to a bill that would place a 2-year moratorium on Hydraulic Fracturing in the Illinois.
The house environmental health committe is scheduled to met this afternoon to discuss the proposed moratorium. The amendment would prevent any fracking from taking place in the state until June 1, 2014. It would also create a task force to conduct a thorough review of the regulation of hydraulic fracturing operations in Illinois. The Task Force would gather information, review, evaluate, and make recommendations regarding the regulation of hydraulic fracturing operations in Illinois with an emphasis on protecting the state’s water resources.
