Heat and humidity dominate our weather this week - and they may combine to bring storms to the region as well.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Rick Shanklin says the high temperatures could be dangerous.

"The heat, in general, will continue for the next week. And, of course, with that heat exhaustion and sun stroke or heat stroke is possible if caution is not exercised."
A Heat Advisory covers parts of the region into Tuesday evening. In addition, some parts of our region are included in a "moderate risk" area for severe thunderstorms Monday into Monday night - Shanklin says much of the threat is for our northern and eastern counties, but combining high temperatures with elevated humidity can bring summertime showers and storms.
"That will also help to fuel storms across our region today through Tuesday. Again, heat indices 100 to 105 across our region. "
Heat index values will top 100 degrees over much of southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, southwest Indiana, and western Kentucky all week.
