A candidate for the Carbondale City Council is withdrawing his petition for the office.
Greg Knoob wrote on his Facebook page Tuesday he decided not to run because of a City of Carbondale rule that a candidate or family member can't have anything to do with a liquor-licensed establishment, except for a restaurant. Knoob owns Stix bar in Carbondale.

He said the choice came down to closing his businesses or run for city council. Knoob said although he believes the council needs a businessperson's perspective; he isn't willing to give up his income to be that person.

Another city council candidate questioned some of Knoob's signatures on his petition, claiming they were from people outside of Carbondale.

There are now seven candidates vying for three spots on the Carbondale City Council in April.
