GOP Leaders React to Pension Reform Plan

Illinois republican leaders say they have to give Gov. Pat Quinn credit for some parts of his pension reform plan.

The plan calls for raising the retirement age for Illinois public employees to 67 and require them to contribute more money to their retirement funds.   House republican leader tom cross and senate republican leader Christine Radogno say Quinn’s plan has some good components and they plan to take a closer look at the details. but both republicans say they're concerned about Quinn’s move to

shift some pension costs from the state to school districts.  They say that would cost local schools and community colleges about $1 billion a year. Cross says that sounds like a tax increase to him.
