Alex Kierstead

Healy Chapel in Aurora says the family of 20-year-old Alex Kierstead will receive friends from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, December 17th at New England Congregational Church in Aurora. The address is 406 W. Galena Blvd. Aurora, IL 60506.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 18th at the same location.

Kierstead lived with three other young men at 700 West Freeman Street in Carbondale. He was the only one home at the time of the early morning fire on November 23rd...the first official day of Thanksgiving break for SIU students.

The Aurora native was a double major in Political Science and Journalism. Kierstead was a student reporter for us here at WSIU Radio. Wednesday, we will re-air a feature Alex did a year ago about how the postal service is dealing with more and more people celebrating the holidays electronically.
