A Franklin County man is dead following a three vehicle accident. Illinois State Police say the crash happened Monday night about 10:30 on Route-14 near Water Road. Police say two cars were traveling east on Route-14 when one went to pass the other. The passing vehicle struck a west bound motorcycle. After hitting the on-coming motorcycle the car then struck the other vehicle it was trying to pass.
State Police say the driver of the motorcycle, 34-year old William Barger of Christopher, was killed. The driver of the car that struck Barger – 37-year old Kristina Johnson of Whittington - was issued a ticket for improper overtaking. Johnson was not injured. Police say a passenger in her car, 23-year old Chelsea Hayden of Whittington suffered minor injuries. Two occupants of the other car were not injured.
An investigation continues.
