Fox Ellis: Remembering 100 Years Since the Last Passenger Pigeon

www.foxtaleint.com

This week marks the 100th anniversary of the death of the last known Passenger Pigeon in the United States.
In this special Edition of  Radio Voices, story teller, historian, and naturalist Brian "Fox" Ellis recounts the journey of John James Audubon across southern Illinois some 200-years ago - when he encountered the Passenger Pigeon.

That's Illinois-based story teller, historian, and naturalist Brian "Fox" Ellis.   What was thought to be the last known Passenger Pigeon in the United States died on September 1, 1914 at the Cincinnati Zoo.

Ellis portrays a number of historical figures and gives performances across the country.   You can see Ellis this weekend as he brings the adventures of Meriwether Lewis to life.

Ellis is one of the performers and organizers of the Murphysboro Chautauqua that takes place on Sunday at the Liberty Theater in Murphysboro.  The free program begins at 2:00pm.

Later this week we will hear more from Ellis on the upcoming Murphysboro Chautauqua.
