Family of Molly Young Files Wrongful Death Suit

More than two years after the death of a Carbondale woman, Molly Young's father has filed a wrongful death lawsuit in hopes of getting answers about his daughter's death.

Larry Young filed the suit against Richie Minton - Young's ex-boyfriend. Young was found shot to death in March 2012 in Minton's Carbondale apartment, who was then a Carbondale Police dispatcher. Jackson County States Attorney Mike Carr appointed a special prosecutor to the case last August. Larry Young says he has heard nothing since then, but hopes the prosecutor has been following the proper leads.

Young says he sees this lawsuit as the only way to get the answers he needs into how his 21-year-old daughter died.  There have been questions about potential mishandling of evidence in the case.

The family of Molly Young has turned to social media in an effort to find closure on her death.

Carr has said he has not found evidence to suggest there was a cover-up.  A coroner's jury previously ruled there wasn't enough evidence to determine whether Young's death was a suicide, homicide or accidental.

A hearing in Young's wrongful death lawsuit is set for December 30th.
