A new, larger satellite clinic run by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is opening in Effingham.
The 10,000-square-foot facility is more than 50 percent bigger than the city's older VA clinic in the Lincolnland Building.
The Effingham Daily News reports that the new facility features video-teleconference units that will allow veterans to connect with service providers located elsewhere.
The staff will include a nurse specializing in tele-retinal eye-care services.
The clinic opens Monday for walk-in patients. Regularly scheduled patients can begin using the facility Tuesday.
