Illinois Law enforcement agencies want people to know that July 9th is the new deadline for the state to have a concealed carry law.
A federal appeals court has granted the state an extension to place a conceal carry law on the books.
Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police executive director John Kennedy says the General Assembly passed a concealed carry bill, but the governor has yet to act on it. He says some people were confused about whether concealed carry had gone into effect when the original deadline of a conceal carry law of June 9th came and went.
Kennedy says if someone is caught carry a concealed weapon while it is still illegal and they will be arrested.
