A Chester police officer was killed in the line of duty Friday. Chester police say 22-year old James Brockmeyer died after his patrol car crashed while pursuing another vehicle. Police say Officer Brockmeyer’s patrol car left the roadway and overturned just south of Union School Road in Randolph Count about 10:00 pm Friday. Police say he was trapped in the wreckage as a result of the crash.
Chester Police say the vehicle Brockmeyer was pursuing fled the scene of the accident. Randolph County State’s Attorney Jeremy Walker says an arrest warrant has been issued for the driver of the suspect vehicle. He is identified as 34-year old Jason Michael Stoker. Stoker is described as 5’10”, 155 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen driving a Red 2006 Pontiac G6. He is charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding. Officer Brockmeyer had served the Chester Police Department for 10-months. He is survived by his parents and sister.
