Teachers in Carbondale's Elementary School District are unhappy with the leadership there.
The Carbondale Education Association has taken a "no confidence" vote in Superintendent Michael Shimshak. They say his leadership style is divisive, and promotes a lack of trust.
CEA President Angela Grimmer says in the past year, the administration has put new goals in place, with little leadership on how to meet those goals.
Grimmer says there was overwhelming support for the no confidence vote in Shimshak, who has been Superintendent since 2011.
But, Shimshak says he thinks this type of action is to be expected considering the changes going on in the district.
"We also have a letter from a group of teachers saying they support these changes and disagree with what their association is doing. So, we're asking for transformational change and I think that change is difficult, but in the end I think it's going to be worth it."
The union has taken its complaint to the administration and to the school board, but says it has not been able to reach any sort of resolution to their problems.
