Leaders of Carterville's school district have filed suit against the village of Cambria over a controversial taxing district approved last week.
The district threatened the suit when Cambria approved at residential Tax Increment Financing district.
School leaders say it'll take money away from the district, while at the same time adding more students.
Cambria leaders say the TIF will bring much-needed development to the small community, and that they offered a portion of the tax money to the school district, but were denied.
The lawsuit was filed in Williamson County. Both sides will be in court next month for a review.
