Carbondale Splash Park Construction on Track

Construction of the new Super Splash Park Outdoor Aquatics Center in Carbondale is on track to open as scheduled in May.Thanks in part to favorable weather this winter, Carbondale Park District executive director Kathy Renfro says construction is 50% completed. She says right now work is focused on  amenities with the bathhouse.

Renfro says the total funds to finish the project now stands at $838,000 - that's $62,000 away from the total goal. She says anyone wanting to donate can go to the Carbondale Parks Department website at cpkd.org.  She says they're also holding two fundraisers. One is this Saturday night at the First United Methodist Church in Carbondale. It's called "Classical Splash," a music recital featuring members of the Benyas family. They're accepting donations of any amount. The other fundraiser is next month on St. Patrick's Day.

More information is available on the park district's web site www.cpkd.org.
